About the Role?

The Asset and Infrastructure Services Manager oversees the maintenance, compliance, and lifecycle management of research and teaching assets across a range of scientific disciplines and facilities. The role involves managing maintenance contracts, ensuring regulatory compliance, and developing asset replacement plans to support the College’s research and teaching goals.

Working collaboratively with technical staff, academics, and external contractors, the role requires excellent communication, project management, and problem-solving skills. It suits a capable, independent individual with strong systems knowledge and a broad skill set.

In addition to the above, the Asset and Infrastructure Services Manager will support:


	Equipment availability and upkeep
	Asset management
	Finance and Procurement
	Compliance
	Supervision of staff


About You?

As the Asset and Infrastructure Services Manager, you will build strong relationships across the College of Science and Engineering and with external partners. Success in this role relies on your ability to lead confidently, take initiative, and make independent decisions. You’ll need an understanding of WHS legislation, experience with finance systems including budgeting and procurement, and strong skills in managing and negotiating with contractors. While similar experience is valued, we are seeking candidates with proven leadership, a collaborative approach, and a commitment to fostering a positive team culture.

To be successful in this role, you will also demonstrate:


	Sound knowledge of WHS policies and procedures and in particular the management of plant and contractors.
	Experience managing data and records.
	Experience in the supervision of staff for the provision of a high level of service within a team environment.

We are recruiting an Artist in Residence to undertake artistic research with a focus on Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) technology, in the context of the recently awarded UKRI grant ‘SOUNDSCALE: Sensing On Urban Noise: Distributed Sensing for Collaborative and Sustainable Cityscapes and Living Environments’,?http://soundscale.ac.uk.

The role

The postholder will be based in the Department of Art & Media Technology in Winchester School of Art, University of Southampton and within the Critical Infrastructures and Image Politics research group,?https://criticalinfrastructures.net/.

The postholder is expected to conduct independent artistic research and to collaborate with members of the research team by participating in team meetings and contributing to methodology, research process and outcomes. The SOUNDSCALE project aims to study the emergence of DAS technology from an interdisciplinary perspective, including contributions from the arts, humanities, social and physical sciences.

We invite applications from a wide variety of practices and want particularly to welcome applicants with experience of community work and community engagement, interdisciplinary research and critical approaches to technology and infrastructure. This role is especially relevant to applicants working with technology from a variety of standpoints, including civic and community-oriented technology, feminist and decolonial approaches, sound art, algorithmic governance, media and cultural studies, digital media, environmental approaches, and others. The communities and physical research sites of the project are located in Southampton and London.

You will be an artist with a portfolio of research projects. A PhD is not required for this role. Apply by uploading your portfolio and CV outlining your professional experience.

The postholder will actively participate in the research process according to their expertise and will offer a distinct contribution to the project, with the potential to integrate their existing methodologies into the methodology of the project. The postholder will closely work with Project Co-I Dr Alexandra Anikina, and with other members of the research team, including PI Dr Rafael Mestre, Co-I Prof Matt Ryan, Co-I Prof Dianna Smith, Co-I Prof Mohammad Belal and others, as well as our community partners.

The postholder will contribute to outcomes and impacts, including engagement activities and knowledge exchange resources, potentially including policy guidelines, toolkits, co-authoring papers, etc. The project comes with funding for production of artworks, as well as travel budget for conference attendance and mentoring support.

About the role

The Department of Physics is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Physics (AI) to undertake high-quality original research in areas of AI and exoplanetary science that fall within the scope of the SED (Space Exochemistry Data) Group in the Physics Department and to help in the delivery and development of high-quality undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.?

The research goals of the SED group involve the study of the planets in our Galaxy through the design and implementation of new space satellites and data science techniques. We will support the candidate to continue to develop a novel and internationally distinctive portfolio of personal research.

The successful candidate must have developed a creative, original and distinctive research vision, a high-quality publication record and should have the potential to secure external research funding.? We are looking for researchers with the qualities to build a team, who can function within a group and who possess the ability to provide high-quality teaching.

We seek candidates who can demonstrate creativity, enthusiasm for group, intergroup and interdepartmental collaboration and qualities which will help maintain and enhance the culture of the Physics Department.?

About Us

The School of Basic and Medical Bioscience (BMBS) is seeking to recruit a technician to provide technical support and contribute to the smooth running of our research facilities. The post-holder will be primarily based in the Departments of Medical & Molecular Genetics and the St John’s Institute of Dermatology located in the Tower wing, on Guy’s Campus.

About the role

The post holder is a member of the School’s professional services team, reporting to the Technical Manager for MMG & SJID.? They will lead on the ordering of goods and products used by the researchers, raising requisitions and purchase orders, goods receipting, dealing with deliveries and ensuring correct storage of temperature sensitive items. They will be expected to contribute to a number of technical objectives including but not limited to, Health & Safety compliance, good laboratory practice, maintenance of equipment, interactions with external stakeholders (engineers, delivery staff, maintenance and security personnel etc.) and act as a point of contact for staff enquiries.

The post would suit someone looking to pursue a career in technical management and the ideal candidate will be a dependable team player, able to work well with a technical team who deliver a comprehensive technical service across multiple locations The successful candidate will need to work independently when appropriate, possessing excellent planning and communication skills and be able to prioritise their own workload effectively. They will be expected to build relationships with a wide set of stakeholders across academic, technical, Finance, Health & Safety and Estates & Facilities directorates to support the research and educational objectives of the School.
