"Crib-biting" and "wind-sucking" are being investigated by researchers. Experts from the University of Liverpool and the University of Lincoln are looking for horse owners to take part in their study of equine behaviour. "Crib-biting" is when a horse or pony seizes a fixed object in its front teeth and pulls back on it - an event usually accompanied by grunting. "Wind-sucking" is similar, but the animal does not grasp on to an object.
