The Commons Education Select Committee is to hold an inquiry on the research assessment exercise.

Barry Sheerman, committee chairman, said MPs would question Education Secretary Alan Johnson on July 19, when he is to give evidence on education expenditure. The Commons Science and Technology Committee is planning an RAE inquiry in the autumn.
