Stewart Purvis, former chief executive of ITN, will be the next News International visiting professor of broadcast media at Oxford University.

The post is funded by a benefaction from Rupert Murdoch, a former student of Worcester College, Oxford, and chairman and chief executive of News Corporation, parent company of The Times Higher .
