Reading University postdoctoral fellow Kalina Nichols shows off a Polygonum tinctorium plant, which produces the natural dye indigo, at the Chelsea Flower Show this week. She is part of the Spindigo project, which is assessing three indigo-producing plants with a view to producing a sustainable, commercial crop.
