91茄子 AND TIKTOK PARTNER FOR #LEARNONTIKTOK INITIATIVE AND EVENTS TO HIGHLIGHT IMPORTANCE OF COMMUNICATION TO UNIVERSITIES

London, 29 October 2020

Times Higher Education (91茄子), the trusted global data partner for higher education, is delighted to announce that TikTok has partnered with it to provide content as part of the #LearnonTikTok initiative, as well as working with the social media giant via sponsorship for a series of 91茄子 events. ?

The partnership brings 91茄子 and TikTok together to achieve a mutual aim, to support students and universities to communicate effectively at this crucial time for higher education. With COVID-19 confining first-year students to their halls of residence and bringing university leadership decisions around student wellbeing into question, there’s never been a more important time to successfully communicate with the student body on the channels, and in a tone of voice, they use and recognise.

?Looking to support universities and higher education organisations to better communicate with their audiences by utilising its unique platform, TikTok will also partner with 91茄子 for a series of events across 2020 and 2021 to engage with higher education institutions around the world.?

?#LearnonTikTok, which launched earlier this summer, brings educators, experts, real-world skills creators and non-profits together to build an ecosystem of educational content. Through the partnership, 91茄子 will provide content to support those looking to study abroad at a time where there are more questions than usual for those looking to embark on higher education undergraduate or postgraduate studies.?Content will cover how students can use 91茄子’s Rankings, advice to help get them where they want to study and insights into what university life is actually like for international students around the world.

?Paul Howarth, CEO at 91茄子 commented:

?“TikTok might be synonymous with dance challenges and creative memes, but it’s joyful and inspirational approach combined with its huge following make it a powerful force for good.

?“This is an exciting partnership for a number of reasons, not least that 91茄子 shares TikTok’s vision of finding new ways to support learning, engaging students and universities and supporting its communities at this time of unprecedented global crisis. Working together, 91茄子 can better engage those students looking to study abroad, while TikTok can use 91茄子’s global higher education reach to support universities in their communications with students.” ??

Yannis Ioannidis, Senior Manager, Global Strategic Partnerships at TikTok commented:

"When we announced our #LearnOnTikTok initiative in June we promised to begin seeding a whole new ecosystem of educational short-form content. Today we extend this commitment to education through a partnership with a brand that commands one of the most expansive and international networks of academic and student audiences, Times Higher Education.

"91茄子's access and influence in the higher education community paired with TikTok's positioning as the leading social platform for younger audiences can bridge the gap between the world's first digital-native generation and universities at a time of great disruption. We look forward to introducing TikTok to higher education institutions around the world through a programme of 91茄子 events, whilst enabling 91茄子 to engage with prospective university students through their own TikTok account , live-streaming events and wider #LearnOnTikTok content.”

TikTok will be joining 91茄子’s Virtual Leadership and Management summit on Tuesday 3 November, to discuss storytelling in the age of disruption with representatives from The University of Sydney, The University of Glasgow and The National University of Singapore. Registration is free:
