Chris Reid, a forensic science BSc student at Paisley University, is undertaking a 12-month placement at the drinks firm Diageo, helping its science team to search for counterfeit whisky among samples taken from bars and clubs across the world. The team analyses the authenticity of whisky using techniques such as gas chromatography, which is the process used to separate and identify the components of a mixture.
