The next time you work through your lunch break, spare a thought for Tasleem Shakur of Edge Hill University, who is fasting for 16 hours a day. Dr Shakur, senior lecturer in Natural, Geographical and Applied Sciences, has family in southern Bangladesh, one of the areas worst affected by the recent Bangladesh cyclone. He will fast for three weeks to raise money for the victims.
