The Economic and Social Research Council is to increase funding for work on climate change "as a matter of urgency". It has also announced a ?2.9 million International Centre for Lifecourse Studies in Society and Health, led by University College London, and it will create a ?3.7 million Centre for Learning and Life Chances in Knowledge Economies and Societies. Further funding of ?4 million for the Centre on Skills, Knowledge and Organisational Performance at Oxford and Cardiff universities has also been granted.
