Former brigadier John Hoskinson has been appointed pro vice-chancellor (strategic planning and resources) of Northampton University. Mr Hoskinson, whose Army career included tours in Northern Ireland, Kosovo and the Middle East, was formerly acting chief operating officer at Liverpool University. Meanwhile, John Jones, Northampton's business development manager, has been awarded the annual Court Award for 2007 for his contribution to the institution.
