An exchange programme between the University of Northern British Columbia and the Yakutsk State University in Siberia is in doubt following a Russian exchange student's suicide, according to the programme's Russian organiser. Anna Sorkomova hanged herself after being charged with shoplifting. Police took away her passport and gave no notification to her university.
