University for the Creative Arts - Elephant in the room

Students who helped create one of the Elephant Parade figures that graced the streets of London this summer raised more money for charity than some of the celebrity artists involved. Gaia, the elephant created by students from the University for the Creative Arts, sold for ?20,250 - more than works by Sir Paul Smith, Tommy Hilfiger and Sir Terence Conran. A UCA spokesman said the design, painted by first-year fine art students, was the th most expensive model out of 260 at a star-studded auction that raised ?4 million for the endangered Asian elephant population.
