University of Leeds - Marks sparks look at our plates

One of the country's best-known retail chains is to sponsor research into the social history of food. The doctoral scholarship at the University of Leeds is being backed by Marks & Spencer, and will fund research involving the M&S archive, which is currently based in London but is to get a permanent home at the university next year. The successful candidate will study the social history of food from the 19th century to the present day, including its supply, distribution and consumption. The research will be supervised by Katrina Honeyman, professor of social and economic history.
