Thanks to a geography graduate, the University of Sheffield has received its 5,000th individual donation. The donor was Jonathan Kempster, who graduated from the university's department of geography in 2001. The Alumni Fund, the university's annual fundraising campaign targeting former students, raises more than ?200,000 a year in small gifts. Sheffield is engaged in an advertising drive to raise funding under the Government's new ?200 million matched-funding scheme.
