Ethiopia's legal system is to be assisted by a deal that will see Warwick University's School of Law develop masters and doctorate programmes there. The courses, which will be taught at Mekelle University in northern Ethiopia, will aim to raise the training of practising Ethiopian lawyers to an internationally recognised standard. Over the next five years, 20 lecturers from Warwick will teach at the university, as well as supervising doctorate students, via modules on development, globalisation, governance, gender and human rights. Sam Adelman, from Warwick's law school, said: "The challenge is to deliver the right kind of support for both masters and PhD students in ways that are culturally aware and effective."
