Wolverhampton University may be forced to withdraw from teacher education when a damning inspection report on its BEd courses is published in October.

A draft report obtained by The 91ÇÑ×ÓS by schools inspector Ofsted found Wolverhampton's teacher training degree courses for primary school English to be "poor quality" in two of five inspection areas: students' subject knowledge and accuracy and consistency of assessments. The other areas were given the second lowest grade, "adequate".

The report is not due until after a TTA board meeting in October, but it is understood the TTA has begun talks with Wolverhampton about possibly pulling accreditation.

Sir Geoff Hampton, head of Wolverhampton's school of education, said he could not discuss the report, as it did not yet technically exist.
