Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) was founded in 2008 to bring together the various educational institutes run by the military, creating a cohesive platform for advanced learning and professional development.
The university is administered by the country’s armed forces but open to both military and civilian students.
It is situated in Mirpur Cantonment.
Academically, the university is structured into six faculties: Business Studies, Arts and Social Science, Security and Strategic Studies, Science and Technology, Medical Studies, and a combined Faculty of Business and Social Sciences.
BUP is also home to two academic centres: the Centre for Higher Studies and Research, and the Centre for Modern Languages.
At undergraduate level, students can study subjects such as accounting and information systems, finance and banking, marketing, management studies, economics, sociology, English, development studies, public administration, international relations, mass communication and journalism, disaster and human security management, environmental science, computer science and engineering, and law.
Postgraduate courses are on offer in the areas of public health, cybersecurity, international relations, environmental science, and various MBA pathways. Language and certificate programmes are also available in Arabic, French, German, Japanese, Turkish, Chinese, and English.
