The City University of Macau (CityU Macau) inherited the legacy of the University of East Asia – the first university in Macao founded by Chinese patriots in 1981 – and was officially renamed to its current title in 2011. With the strategic outline, CityU Macau has embarked on a new phase of development. Currently, CityU Macau has 18 distinctive research units supported by the Macao SAR government and the central government. Many of these units are the first of their kind in the region, aim at providing a breeding ground for top-notch research. With Macao’s positioning as the exchange platform between China and the Portuguese-speaking countries, the University is exposed to multicultural exchange, which can facilitate the mobility of faculty members and students globally. Moreover, it is a key partner in the Sino-Portugal Belt and Road Joint Laboratory on the Science of Cultural Heritage Conservation.
