Founded in 2009 and accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Hilla University College has expanded to consist of eight science colleges since its establishment. Located in Hillah, a city in central Iraq along the Hilla branch of the Euphrates River, it is the capital of the Babylon Province and is known for its agricultural activities.

The role:?We are currently seeking?full-time Study Skills Lecturers who will work??in close collaboration with subject lecturers to develop and teach study skills within the curriculum across a range of HE programmes from Foundation to Masters’ Level?as part of our BSU, UoS and OBU partnerships.?This includes for example, improving English language and numeracy, organisational and presentation skills, digital literacy and basic IT skills, reading, writing and higher order research skills. Due to our delivery model, we require flexibility to teach during weekdays, evenings and at weekends.

What you'll be doing:


	Designing/documenting bespoke courses, digital resources, workshop plans and individual schemes of work as required to develop study skills in the curricula
	Delivering/evaluating teaching and identifying areas for potential improvement to?enhance the quality of teaching, learning and overall student experience in accordance with the?GBS’s Learning and Teaching strategy
	Providing feedback on individual and class progress in their understanding of academic writing and other relevant study skills
	Providing?tutorial consultations with students, constructive comments individual to each student's need, explaining where work fails to meet assessment criteria and suggesting ways to improve their work / working practices
	Recording details from these appointments for statistical, evaluation and quality purposes, and to refer students to other services as appropriate
	Effectively engaging with VLE and research resources and facilitate students’ learning by means of engagement with online resources and activities.
	Contributing to?GBS?quality assurance systems and processes


About You:?


	You will hold a Master's degree in relevant subject area (PhD desirable)?
	You will have previous UK HE lecturing experience in the wider subject area
	You will have successful track record of teaching adult learners from diverse backgrounds on HE programmes
	You will have proven experience of providing individual and group study skills support in response to identified learning needs
	You will be willing to lead a specific area of literacy development, such as reading, writing, critical thinking, numeracy, digital skills, research skills (quantitative or qualitative), project and dissertation support, peer-assisted learning;
	You will be able to demonstrate a high level of digital literacy and advanced communication skills

The University is now inviting applications and nominations for the post of Vice President (Research).? Reporting to the Senior Vice President (Research and Innovation), the appointee will be a member of the Central Management Team responsible for the planning and development of matters related to research of the University as set out below.

Job Functions

The appointee will be required to:

(a) plan, lead and oversee all aspects of the research activities and development of the University;

(b) drive the continuous enhancement of quality, relevance and impact of the University’s research in alignment with the University’s established research policies and positioning;

(c) steer the University’s development in selected research areas with the aim of strengthening its leadership and reputation regionally and internationally;

(d) oversee the operation of designated research facilities and units of the University; and

(e) perform any other duties as assigned by the Senior Vice President (Research and Innovation) or his/her delegates.

Qualifications

Applicants should:

(a) have outstanding academic qualifications at Chair Professor level with evidence of eminent scholarship;

(b) have demonstrated capability and track records in leading and managing research activities, with solid experience acquired in a senior capacity of a sizable and renowned university;

(c) be a visionary and inspiring leader with a strong drive for excellent performance;

(d) have a proven track record in driving significant changes in academia successfully, particularly in the areas of research;

(e) have an international outlook and a good understanding of global trends and opportunities in higher education, particularly in the areas of research;

Job Summary:

GPI is seeking an innovative and dynamic Research Scientist to lead groundbreaking research and projects exclusively focused on non-agricultural applications of phosphorus. This role offers the opportunity to work at the forefront of fields such as materials science, energy storage, environmental sustainability, and water treatment—leveraging the unique properties of phosphorus outside of traditional agricultural uses.

The successful candidate will drive breakthrough research initiatives in non-agricultural phosphorus applications, collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, and contribute to advancing sustainable, transformative phosphorus technologies within an internationally engaged environment.

The Research Scientist will be based at the GPI headquarters in Benguérir, Morocco and reports to the Executive Director.

Key Responsibilities:


	Research Leadership:

	
		Develop, design, and execute innovative research projects dedicated to non-agricultural phosphorus applications. Projects will explore advanced phosphorus-based materials in water treatment, energy systems, environmental management, and advanced materials science.
	
	
	Collaboration:
	
		Work closely with interdisciplinary teams—including chemists, materials scientists, environmental engineers, and industry partners—to drive collaborative research initiatives that push the boundaries of non-agricultural phosphorus applications.
	
	
	Knowledge Dissemination:
	
		Publish findings in high-impact journals, present at international conferences, and contribute to the scientific community by advancing methodologies specifically tailored to non-agricultural uses of phosphorus.
	
	
	Innovation and Strategy:
	
		Stay abreast of global trends in phosphorus research and propose strategic directions that align with GPI’s mission. Focus on exploring novel non-agricultural phosphorus applications that promote sustainable practices across multiple sectors.
	
	
	Support for GPI's activities
	
		Represent GPI at scientific or other meetings, including speaking assignments.
		Actively engage in national and international professional and scientific societies to represent the Institute.

Qualifications:


	Educational Background:

	
		PhD in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related fields. Candidates with experience in or a strong interest in innovative phosphorus applications beyond traditional agriculture are encouraged to apply.
