Basic information and contact details for Menoufia National University

institution

Menoufia National University was founded in 1976.

The university’s main campus is located in Shibin El-Kom, a city in Egypt’s Nile Delta. Shibin El-Kom is the capital of the Monufia Governorate and is situated 75km from the capital, Cairo. This campus is home to the majority of the university’s faculties, labs, libraries, and administration departments.

In 2006 the university established a campus in Sadat City, 60km from Shibin El-Kom. There are also two other branch campuses in Menof and Ashmon.

When the university first opened there were only four faculties: the College of Agriculture, College of Engineering, College of Education, and the College of Electronic Engineering.

It has since become one of the largest universities in Egypt with a student body of more than 80,000 and 22 faculties across a range of subject areas including agriculture, engineering, science, commerce, medicine, art, law, nursing, physical education, and computers and information.

The university is home to the National Institute of Liver Diseases, as well as a number of other research centres that specialise in a wide variety of topics such as renewable energy, biotechnology, and social sciences. Throughout the academic year, the university publishes its research findings in several international journals.
