Founded on 27 March 1981 by the Sunan Giri Foundation and Nahdlatul Ulama leaders, the University of Islam Malang is one of Indonesia’s largest private Islamic universities. 

It combines academic excellence with moral and religious values based on Ahlussunnah wal-jama’ah. 

University of Islam Malang offers programmes across 11 faculties, including Islamic sciences, law, agriculture, engineering, economics, education, communication, psychology, medicine, animal husbandry and pharmacy. 

Postgraduate offerings include master’s degrees in education, management, law and administrative sciences, and doctoral programmes in Islamic education. 

Campus facilities include a central library, research centres, multimedia studios, arts and theatre spaces, sports facilities, a university mosque and the Ma’had Al-Jami’ah dormitory. 

Student life blends Islamic tradition with modern educational opportunities, featuring societies in research, entrepreneurship, arts, sports and culture. 

University of Islam Malang has partnerships with universities in Turkey, Russia and Azerbaijan, supporting international exposure.
