About Entity (ASARI):

The African Sustainable Agriculture Research Institute (ASARI) is a component of the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P). It is located in Laayoune City, in south of Morocco. Its vision is targeting real, local, regional, and African challenges in the fields of agricultural in dry lands and marginal environments, animal value chain, water and energy sustainability, biorefinery and bioenergy, cultivation and conversion of micro and macroalgae, and geology and mining.

Oriented towards Africa, ASARI acts in connection with a wide network of universities and research centers around the continent in order to link real field issues with up-to-date science. The institute has attracted multidisciplinary research teams composed of food engineers, agronomists, biochemists, biologists, … etc.

About Research Center on Algal Biotechnology (RCAB) – UM6P Laayoune:

The Research Center on Algal Biotechnology (RCAB) is a new component of the University Mohammed VI Polytechnic (UM6P). It is located in Laayoune City and constitutes a structure of practical-based research with a vision of offering versatile infrastructure for cultivation and conversion of algae based on merging biotechnology, environmental science, and sustainability. Driven by innovation, sustainability, and interdisciplinary collaboration, the center aims to bridge research and practical applications for the development of a large spectrum of applications in agriculture, cosmetical, pharmaceuticals, feed and food industry, bioremediation, climate change mitigation, and renewable energy production.

Description of the position:


	Train and teach undergraduate and/or graduate students on marine biology, seaweeds cultivation, and aquaculture, as well as special courses related to the candidate's specialization.
	Supervise M.Sc. and PhD students.
	Develop research proposals and instigate high-quality research aligned with the vision of the research center.
	Participate in various committees at the center, college, and university levels.
	Enhance the research profile of the center through the publication of research findings.
	Fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned by the management of the center.
	Effectively disseminate research outcomes through publications and presentations to academic peers, students, and the broader community.
	Dedicate to continuous professional development, staying abreast of the latest advancements in bioprocess engineering and related fields.


Education


	Ph.D. in marine biology or a closely related field, demonstrating advanced knowledge in seaweed biology, ecology, and cultivation


Requirement


	Strong commitment to lead innovative research initiatives in bioprocessing technologies.
	Active research profile, showcasing potential for future research independence through fellowship, co-investigation, collaboration, etc….
	Experience in supervising M.Sc. and PhD within the seaweed biology domain.

Job Summary

MAScIR-UM6P is seeking a highly motivated and skilled postdoctoral researcher to join our interdisciplinary team studying the biology of microalgae and soil cyanobacteria. This position will focus on understanding the ecological roles and potential applications of these microorganisms in agricultural systems, specifically for improving soil health, nutrient cycling, and sustainability. The successful candidate will conduct cutting-edge research on how microalgae and cyanobacteria can enhance soil fertility, optimize nutrient availability, and contribute to more sustainable agricultural practices.

Job Responsibilities


	Study the biology, ecology, and physiology of microalgae and cyanobacteria, particularly their role in soil nutrient cycling, nitrogen fixation, and carbon sequestration.
	Investigate the mechanisms through which these microorganisms interact with soil environments and plants, particularly in relation to enhancing soil fertility, water retention, and microbial diversity.
	Develop and optimize biofertilizers or biostimulants based on cyanobacteria and microalgae to improve soil health and agricultural productivity.
	Study the effects of these microorganisms on crop growth, soil nutrient availability, and plant-microbe interactions.
	Design and execute laboratory, greenhouse, and field experiments to assess the efficacy of microalgae and cyanobacteria in improving soil quality and plant performance.
	Analyze experimental data using appropriate statistical methods and communicate findings through scientific publications.
	Work closely with researchers from other disciplines, such as microbiology, soil science, and agriculture, to integrate findings into broader agricultural and environmental research efforts.
	Present research findings at conferences and collaborate with industry partners or stakeholders on practical applications of research.
	Mentor graduate students, interns, or research assistants involved in related projects.


Qualifications:


	Ph.D. in Microbiology, Environmental Biology, Soil Science, or a related field.
	Strong background in microbial ecology, particularly with experience in cyanobacteria or microalgae biology.
	Experience with experimental design and data analysis in both laboratory and field settings.
	Familiarity with agricultural microbiology, plant-microbe interactions, or biofertilizer development is highly desirable.
	Excellent written and oral communication skills, with a strong record of scientific publications.
	Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
	Knowledge of molecular biology techniques, microbial cultivation, and soil analysis methods is a plus.

Within the Department of Psychological Medicine, the Centre for Affective Disorders (CfAD) is world-renowned centre of excellence committed to pioneering research and innovative treatment approaches for mood disorders, such as depression and bipolar disorder. The Centre brings together world-leading clinician scientists, including Professors Anthony Cleare, Roland Zahn, Carmine Pariante, and Allan Young.

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced clinician with a specific interest in affective disorders to join the Centre for Affective Disorders (CfAD). This Clinical Research Associate post will be part of the Mental Health Translational Research Collaboration (MH-TRC) Mission Mood Disorders workstream at KCL.

The postholder will be primarily responsible for the clinical management of research participants across a range of commercial and non-commercial clinical trials and will also perform other trial management and research activities as outlined in the job description.

The postholder will be supervised by Dr Rebecca Garvey and will work closely with Professor Allan Young and Professor Anthony Cleare. They will also work closely with research assistants and other members of CfAD.

This is a full-time post (40 hours per week), and you will be offered an a fixed term contract until 31st October 2026.

About you

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria


	Full GMC registration with a valid license to practice
	Postgraduate experience in psychiatry, ideally with exposure to mood disorders
	Experience in managing patients within research or clinical trial settings, including obtaining informed consent and administering diagnostic instruments and outcome measures
	Scientific publications relevant to psychiatry, mental health, or clinical trials
	Strong organisational, with the ability to manage competing deadlines
	Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to engage effectively with patients, clinicians, researchers and other multi-disciplinary teams


Desirable criteria


	Familiarity with KCL/SLaM systems and research infrastructure in the UK
	Demonstrable interest in and knowledge of affective disorder research
	Experience of data analysis using statistical software
	Knowledge of Good Clinical Practice (GCP), research governance, and relevant ethical/regulatory frameworks

Postdoctoral Fellow hiring in the framework of a project focused on the valorization of microalgae for biotechnological applications.

Successful candidate is expected to have:


	Experience in isolation, culture techniques of microalgae and cyanobacteria strains, growth optimization of the strains of interest according to the targeted application.?
	Expertise on the green extraction, chemical characterization of natural active molecules and biomacromolecules from algae (macro/microalgae).
	Knowledge and familiarity of analytical techniques necessary for structural using GC/LC-MS analysis.
